Bronze

Etchings

Do you have a favorite quote? A special message for someone? A treasured autograph or a hand-written note? We can have it etched on a bronze plate. It might look like a post card or a simple note, with any kind of font or design. We also make symbolic designs, decorations and trinkets. Here are a few examples:

Here are some of my favorite quotes:

“The things we love tell us who we are.” ― Thomas Aquinas

“If the doors of perception were cleansed every thing would appear to man as it is, Infinite.“ ― William Blake

“The dangers of life are infinite, and among them is safety.“ ― Goethe

“What is real is not the external form, but the essence of things... it is impossible for anyone to express anything essentially real by imitating its exterior surface.” ― Constantin Brancusi

“What is important is to spread confusion, not eliminate it.” ― Salvador Dalí

“I am not strange. I am just not normal.” ― Salvador Dalí

CUSTOM holders

We make custom frames, boxes and holders for various uniquely shaped objets d'art or found objects. Each holder is made to specifications and the design is influenced by the look or history of the item it’s made to hold. Here are a few examples:

A ‘plate holder’ to fit large Pyrite Sun stone. The ‘Mexican pyramid’ motif on the back references the significance of pyrite in Mesoamerican culture. Similar stones were polished on one side and used as mirrors for scrying.

This is a holder for a Batak calendar from Sumatra. The calendar is written on a piece of bamboo and used by Batak people to determine auspicious day (which can only be done by the Batak shaman). The calendar itself is just a table, but it’s richly decorated with the figures of crocodile or lizard, images of sun, leaves and flowers, and geometric ornament. I made a bronze stand that has the same decorations etched, and unobtrusive wire with a loop on top that holds the piece of bamboo upright.

Sculpture

Recently, I started a line of small scale cast bronze sculptures.

Fibulae

I have been always fascinated with ancient fibulas (cloth pins). Roman, Nordic, Celtic or Slavic, they are all incredibly beautiful to me. Whenever I see one in a museum, I always take a picture, and recently I started to make my own. They are not exact copies of historic objects, but heavily influenced by them.

GIFTS

We’re making everything and anything! Here’s a miniature teapot for my aunt’s collection. It’s etched bronze, 3” tall, functional, with a smoky quartz as a topper.
